Gîte vs Disney Hotel: Which Should You Choose?
Gîte vs Disney Hotel: Which Should You Choose?
Should you stay at an official Disney hotel, inside the resort, or choose a gîte a few minutes away by car? Both options have real advantages. Here's an honest comparison to help you decide.
The official Disney hotel
Pros:
- Direct access to the parks on foot or by internal shuttle
- Extra Magic Time (early access to certain attractions for Disney hotel guests)
- Fully themed, immersive atmosphere from the room itself
Cons:
- Rooms are generally smaller, built for 2–4 people
- No kitchen: every meal means a restaurant or room service
- Rates rise sharply during school holidays and weekends
The gîte a few minutes from the park
Pros:
- More space for the same budget (separate bedrooms, living room, garden)
- Equipped kitchen to prepare some meals and cut down on dining costs
- Free parking, while parking at the Disney lots is paid
- A calmer atmosphere in the evening, away from the resort's bustle
Cons:
- Requires a car or RER trip to reach the park (about 20 minutes from Clos des Gardons)
- No access to Extra Magic Time, reserved for Disney hotel guests
Our honest take
For a very short stay (1 night) where you want to live the full Disney experience the moment you step out of your room, the official hotel has a real edge. For a multi-day stay, with family or a group, where budget and space matter as much as immediate proximity, a gîte like Clos des Gardons is usually more comfortable and more affordable — especially if you're also planning to visit Paris or the region during your trip.
